From Campus to Career: A Journey of Friendship and Growth

A few years ago, when I made my brief move to Delhi for my graduation, my main mission was clear: create lasting memories and well.. secure a well-paying job.

In pursuit of this, I decided to get involved in various societies in college. While there were societies for fashion, music, drama, and even a book club, I found myself oddly drawn to the placement cell.

For the uninitiated, the placement cell was a bustling hub, dedicated to helping students secure job opportunities. Intrigued by the prospect of playing a part in shaping the college’s future, my friend and I eagerly joined the cell.

Almost like a ritual, just before every placement season, we would tirelessly track room schedules for interviews, scouring the campus to find the perfect spaces for screening tests.

Our nerves may have rattled when we spoke with recruiters, but we pushed through, knowing we had each other’s back.

We would spend countless hours pouring over job listings, researching companies, and crafting persuasive emails to recruiters. We shared our insights and experiences, learning from each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

And whenever self-doubt crept in, we were there to remind each other of our potential and encourage one another to aim higher.

But it wasn’t always rosy.

There were times when we failed, when our efforts seemed futile, and when the weight of our responsibilities threatened to overwhelm us.

In those moments, we learned that true friendship means being there through the highs and lows, offering a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and saying the right words (while sharing a plate of our favourite noodles) to keep pushing forward.

We faced the consequences together: be it big screw-ups or small wins (and vice-versa).

Even now, we find ourselves reminiscing about those seemingly simple moments, reliving the emotions that pulsed through us. It was a time when we felt fully alive, our efforts driven by a sense of purpose and significance.

So, why do I share this story with you?

Because deep down, we all yearn for a life filled with meaningful experiences and surrounded by people whom we enjoy creating things with.

We strive for fulfilment and a sense of belonging.

So, as you journey through life, I encourage you to remember the importance of pursuing what brings you true joy and being with those who make you a better version of yourself.

Embrace the moments and the people that make your heart dance, for they are the ones that truly make life worthwhile.
